In our Junior School, Years 1 and 2 classes build on the strong foundations established in the first year of school, providing students with structured opportunities to deepen their learning and develop confidence across key areas. Through explicit teaching, guided practice, and hands-on experiences, students strengthen essential skills while exploring new concepts in engaging and meaningful ways. Our approach supports independence, curiosity, and personal growth, preparing students for ongoing success.
-
Students continue to build reading fluency, write for a variety of purposes, and strengthen their understanding of number concepts and basic operations through teacher modelling, guided practice, independent application, and regular progress checks.
-
Hands-on, interactive learning fosters creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving, while also cultivating a strong sense of classroom community. Through exploration in science and the humanities, students develop an understanding of the natural and social world.
-
Religious Education deepens students’ understanding of God’s love and the teachings of Jesus, while social and emotional learning helps them form positive friendships, develop empathy, manage emotions, and cooperate effectively in a safe and supportive environment.
