Community

At St Joseph’s, community is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to be a warm, inclusive, and supportive school where students, families, staff, and our parish work together to create a strong sense of belonging. Our school is more than a place of learning—it is a community built on shared values, mutual respect, and care for one another. Strong relationships between home and school are central to our success, and we actively encourage open communication and partnership with parents and carers.

Families have many opportunities to engage in school life, from supporting classroom activities and excursions to participating in fundraising, celebrations, and faith-based events. Parent groups, school events, and community gatherings play an important role in strengthening connections and fostering a sense of togetherness.

At St Joseph’s, we value coming together to celebrate student learning and special occasions. Each year, whole-school events such as our Welcome BBQ and Bush Dance, Grandparents Day, and Mother’s and Father’s Day celebrations bring everyone together, alongside other special gatherings. Families are also warmly invited to participate in key community events, including our annual Athletics Carnival, Colour Fun Run, and Christmas Carols afternoon—wonderful occasions to connect, celebrate, and share in school life.

Our connections extend beyond the school, including partnerships with the local parish, charities, and community organisations. Through these links, students learn the importance of service, compassion, and responsibility, fostering social awareness and a sense of citizenship.

At St Joseph’s, every member of our community is valued. By working together, we create a happy, welcoming environment where children feel supported, confident, and inspired to flourish.

ST JOSEPH'S CHELSEA

Our Parish

St Joseph’s School is proud to be part of the vibrant parish community of St Joseph's Catholic Church. Our close relationship with the parish enriches the spiritual life of our school and strengthens the bond between home, school, and church.

Through regular Masses, liturgical celebrations, and special feast days, our pupils take an active role in parish life. They read, sing and participate with reverence and joy, growing in confidence and faith.

Together, as one faith community, we strive to live out the Gospel values in all that we do—serving others, showing compassion, and building a welcoming and inclusive community rooted in Christ.

Parents as Partners

At St Joseph’s, we recognise that parents are the first and most important educators of their children. We are committed to working in close partnership with families to ensure every child flourishes academically, socially, and spiritually.

We value open communication and foster strong relationships built on trust and mutual respect. Through regular meetings, workshops, celebrations of learning, and parish events, parents are actively involved in school life. Their support at home and engagement with school initiatives play a vital role in each child’s success.

Together, as partners in education, we create a nurturing and supportive community where every child is encouraged to grow in confidence, faith, and achievement.

School Advisory Council

Our School Advisory Council supports the Principal in the strategic leadership and governance of the school. The Council exists to strengthen our Catholic mission and ensure that decisions reflect our shared vision, values, and commitment to providing a high-quality Catholic education.

Working in a spirit of partnership and stewardship, the Council offers advice in areas such as strategic planning, policy development, community engagement, and the responsible management of resources. While the Principal leads the day-to-day operation of the school, the Council provides collaborative insight and thoughtful guidance to support ongoing improvement.

Through shared leadership and a strong commitment to mission, our School Advisory Council helps nurture a faith-filled learning community where every student is supported to flourish.

Out of School Hours Care

Our Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Program is proudly delivered by MACSEye, providing high-quality care in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

The program offers before and after school care designed to support working families and meet the diverse needs of our community. Children enjoy a balance of structured activities and free play, with opportunities for creativity, physical activity, social connection, and relaxation.

Grounded in our Catholic values and aligned with the life of the school, the OSHC program fosters a sense of belonging and wellbeing. Through caring educators and thoughtfully planned experiences, students are supported to grow in confidence, independence, and positive relationships beyond the classroom.

We have great leadership opportunities at St Joseph’s. Younger students look up to us so we set a good example. As a FIRE Carrier I learn about Indigenous culture and share this learning with others."

"We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a warm, community‑focused school. Its small size creates a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where every child is truly known and supported. The teachers are caring, dedicated, and genuinely invested in each child’s growth and the leadership team sets a positive, nurturing tone throughout the school.

Communication with families is always clear, timely, and thoughtful, which makes us feel included in our children’s learning. Our children have grown in confidence, academically and socially, and we couldn’t imagine a better place for them to learn and flourish."

"My husband and I chose St Joseph’s Primary School for our daughter after visiting several local schools, but immediately feeling the strongest sense of warmth and community at St Joseph’s. From the moment we toured the school, the welcoming spirit was evident, beginning with the Principal and reflected in every staff interaction. The genuine care shown towards both myself and my daughter made us feel confident this was the right environment for her."
